- 2001-12-17 - FISD Board
- Change order for $10,545 to run natural gas line for new
FHS Vocational building, which was absent from original plans.
- Appoint Skip Weatherford to Appraisal District Board.
- 2001-12-04 - City Council
- After Jan. 1, 2002, only vehicles leased for business use will
be taxable - vehicles leased for personal use remain untaxed.
Tax income goes to county where auto. dealership is homed.
- City Mgr Jim McConnell has a tally of homes currently zoned for
development - 3,200.
- FPD Chief Rick Barnes states the Fire Dept. is close to having an
agreement with Talty to lease land for another fire station.

The VFD response time has improved since hiring
a full-time employee, and recent months have been slower than normal.
- Officially & reluctantly accept resignation of Mayor
Pro-Tem Marvin Prestridge.
- Conditionally approve final plat for 57 acres "Trails of Chestnut
Meadow."
- Approve lease agreements between City and both FPHL and FEDC.
- Express appreciation to Intex Electric and Keith Bell for help
with this year's decorative lighting.
- 2001-11-20 - City Council
- City must decide on taxability of leased vehicles by Dec. 31.
- Police Dept. has answered 6,933 calls up through Oct., compared to
about 6800 for the entire year 2000.
- Jim McConnell is meeting w/ county commissioners regarding an
inter-local agreement covering subdivisions planned in Forney's ETJ.
- David Lacy reports the algae situation should be resolved in about
two weeks.
- Approved final plat for Mustang Creek, Phase 1A.
- Will call for public hearings for annexation of 243 acres, by
request of M. R. Development Corp., and prepare service plans for
said annexation.
- Move to re-list property for sale.
- Marvin Prestridge announces resignation, due to relocation.
- Good Luck to the Forney Jackrabbits in Friday's state playoffs.
- 2001-11-06 - City Council
- FP&L personnel give an update on the power plant- heavy equipment
could start arriving by truck in early Dec. Larger items arriving by
train should come about Sept. 2002.
- City & County will be working on an interlocal agreement, which will
cover the governance of ETJ.
- Approved zoning change for 39.7 acres as requested by D. R. Horton
Custom Homes.
- Dan Taylor spoke regarding a safety hazard at Center & Church streets.
- 2001-10-02 - City Council
- Next issued utility bills will show increased rates.
- Homecoming parade was largest ever.
- Rick Heard addresses council regarding Hurricane Park.
- 2001-09-19 - City Council
- A minute of silence for the NY tragedy.
- Final adoption of the 10-cent water rate increase, & $150 meter charge.
- Pay-scale Classifications adopted for Forney Police Dept. employees.
- Oct. 6 - city-wide cleanup, FHS parking lot, 9AM-2PM
- City is spraying for mosquitos, residents should avoid having standing
water on their property.
- 2001-08-21 - City Council
- Proposes leaving tax rate unchanged at .5008.
- Need to increase water rates by 10-cents / 1,000 gallons, first increase
since 1993; and adopt a $150 meter charge.
- Recognizes Mick Spellman for his contributions, financial & otherwise,
to the city.
- Recognizes participants in Avon Breast cancer walk: Jill Beam,
Vickey Gail, Cindy Thompson, Connie Ingersoll.
- 2001-08-06 - FISD: board expects tax rate to increase to 1.62 - 1.64,
Aug. 27 set for public hearing for tax rate.
Due to increased enrollment, sites for
2 new PreK-4 primary campuses will be sought this year. A new bond
package will be required to build a third new primary.
- 2001-08-02 - Planning & Zoning:
- Approves rezoning of 4 acres on 741 for day-care facility.
- Approves variances for 3 different detached garages, including
the previously tabled 30x40 garage.
- 2001-07-16 - New County Sub-Courthouse opens at
200 E. Main (old Post Office).
- 2001-07-16 - Board of Adjustments -
- Approves variance for existing canopy sign at Napoli's
- Denies 80% masonry variance for FMS/newFHS.
- 2001-07-12 - spotted in New Orleans in the Fifth Circuit

- Council approves 7% employee pay raises.
- FPD Chief Barnes has approx. 300 gun locks, available for free.
- S.R.O. crowd RE: the proposed museum on City Hall 2nd floor.
- 2001-06-18 - FISD: planned roads will impact new FHS design.
Board is told TxDoT rules do not automatically grant
speed-limited school zones to schools. Pedestrian traffic or
visibility limitations are required.
- 2001-05-08 - FISD: names ass't superintendent Mike Smith as finalist
for superintendent position, being vacated this year by Dr. Chester
St. Claire.
- 2001-05-06 - FISD: incumbents Keith Bell, David Walker, and
Kenneth Cleaver win re-election to Board of Trustees.
